More than 1,500 secondary and high school students opened the STEAM course at the Fòrum Park last Wednesday. The Fòrum Park staged the first of the STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) jointly organised by Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (B:SM) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) in different emblematic spaces of the city, such as the Olympic Ring or Tibidabo.

The Park has become an experimental centre for young people who experienced the adventure of science and technology in first person, with different activities and facilities located in various areas of the site.

This year, and following the Plan for the social return of the facility to the nearest environment, B:SM wanted to go one step further and work so that the young people in the neighbourhood could participate in the activity at no cost. That’s why some places have been reserved for students in the neighbourhood, who have been able to participate for free. In total, 60 students from the INS Besòs neighbourhood enjoyed the grant.

The action, which is expected to be consolidated over the coming editions, aims to have a positive impact on young people in the neighbourhood and provide them with the opportunity to participate in these conferences, whose mission is to awaken scientific vocations and to convey knowledge in a flexible and creative way.
